1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using MQTTBridge ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These terms apply to all users of mqttbridge.site, including users of the public shared view feature and users accessing the Service via the API.
2. The Service
MQTTBridge is a hosted platform that connects to MQTT brokers you specify, stores incoming device messages, evaluates threshold-based alert rules, and presents data through a web dashboard. The Service also provides:
- Real-time data visualisation and charting with anomaly detection
- Telegram and email alert notifications
- Read-only shared dashboard links for third parties (individual subscriptions and groups)
- A REST API and WebSocket stream for programmatic data access
- CSV and JSON message export
- Paid subscription plans (Builder and Pro) with higher usage limits
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.
3. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to register. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and all activity under your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement.
You may not create accounts on behalf of another person without their consent, or create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits or restrictions.
If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use MQTTBridge to:
- Connect to MQTT brokers without authorisation from the broker owner
- Publish malicious, illegal, or harmful payloads to any broker
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service infrastructure
- Circumvent rate limits, plan limits, authentication controls, or security measures
- Use the Service to facilitate unauthorised surveillance or data collection
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent
- Create multiple accounts to exceed free plan limits
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
5. MQTT Connections
When you add a subscription, MQTTBridge establishes an outbound TCP connection to the broker URL you provide on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to connect to and subscribe from that broker.
We apply the following safeguards automatically:
- Connections to private IP ranges (localhost, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, etc.) are blocked
- TLS certificate verification is enabled by default; you may disable it per subscription at your own risk
- Broker credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256-CBC and never logged in plaintext
MQTTBridge is not responsible for data published to brokers by your devices or third parties subscribing to the same topics.
6. API Keys
API keys grant programmatic access to your account data. Treat them like passwords — do not share them publicly or commit them to version control.
Raw key values are shown only once upon creation. We store only a SHA-256 hash and cannot recover a lost key. If a key is lost or compromised, revoke it and generate a new one.
The number of API keys you may create depends on your plan. You are responsible for all actions taken using your API keys.
8. Billing & Payments
MQTTBridge offers a free plan and two paid plans (Builder and Pro) billed monthly or annually. Paid plans are processed through Polar (polar.sh), a Merchant of Record platform. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorise recurring charges to your payment method.
Subscriptions and renewals. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You will be charged at the rate in effect at the time of renewal. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increases.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Access to paid features continues until then.
Refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-month, your plan remains active until the end of the billing period. In exceptional circumstances — such as being charged in error — contact us within 7 days and we will review the situation. We are not obligated to issue refunds for service interruptions or change of mind.
Plan limits. Usage limits (subscriptions, messages, retention, alert rules, API keys, share links) are enforced per plan. Existing data is not deleted if you downgrade, but you will not be able to add new items beyond your new plan's limits until you are within range.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, Polar will retry according to their billing policy. If retries are exhausted, your account will revert to the Free plan. Your data is retained so you can resubscribe and resume where you left off.
9. Data Ownership & Continuity
You retain full ownership of the sensor data, payloads, and configurations you store in MQTTBridge. We claim no intellectual property rights over your device data.
By using the Service you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
Service continuity commitment. If MQTTBridge is discontinued, all users will receive at least 30 days' notice by email. During that window, a full one-click export of your message history, alert rules, and subscription configuration will be available in your dashboard. Your data will not be deleted before that window closes.
10. Availability & Disclaimer
MQTTBridge is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no guarantee of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or fitness for any particular purpose including industrial control, safety-critical, or life-critical applications.
Do not rely on MQTTBridge as the sole monitoring system for safety-critical devices. The Service is a single-region hosted platform with no guaranteed uptime SLA, no redundant broker failover, and alert delivery that depends on third-party services (Telegram, Resend). It is designed for observability and alerting, not for real-time control, emergency response, or life-critical applications.
We will endeavour to notify users of planned maintenance or significant outages via email.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MQTTBridge and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or damage to equipment.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone. Deletion permanently removes all your data. Any active paid subscription should be cancelled before account deletion to avoid further charges.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or engage in abusive behaviour toward our infrastructure. In non-urgent cases we will give at least 7 days' notice by email before termination.
Sections on data ownership, billing obligations, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email and by updating the effective date above. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
If you disagree with updated terms, delete your account before the effective date.
